This article outlines what link chips are and how to use them in Happeo.
What are link chips?
Link chips transform long URLs into visually appealing, compact elements. By replacing cluttered links with clean, clickable icons, they enhance the readability and user experience. Link chips are available for:
- Posts
- Articles
- Announcements
- Comments
- Page Widgets (e.g. Text Widget)
The types of links that will turn into link chips include:
- Happeo
- Google Drive
- Microsoft Sharepoint
- Microsoft OneDrive
Link chips and Search AI: Because link chips are considered as ‘attachments', link chips added to Posts or Pages will be surfaced by Search AI in responses. This ensures a more complete and thorough processing of knowledge in AI responses for users.
How to create link chips
Creating link chips is simple:
- Copy and paste a URL in a Post, Article, Comment, etc.
- Happeo will automatically convert the pasted URL into a visually appealing link chip that includes an icon and a title
Note: Because link chips are considered as ‘attachments,’ if you were to remove the link preview (the box that appears at the bottom of your content), this would not impact search discoverability.
How to revert a link chip back into a URL
To revert a link chip to a plain text URL:
- Use the keyboard shortcut:
- Mac: Command + Z
- Windows/Linux: Control + Z
Note: When you revert a link chip into a URL, please ensure the link preview remains part of the content to support searchability within Happeo. Removing the link preview may reduce the discoverability of the linked content in Search, as the URL alone won’t provide the same search value.
