This article provides definitions for various user types and statuses in Happeo.
Definitions for Happeo user types
Internal user
- A standalone user account within the Happeo organization
- Their status is agnostic (can vary between different user statuses)
Synced/provisioned user
- A user account that is synchronized from a provisioning source (e.g., Google Workspace)
Invited user
- A user who has been explicitly invited by a platform admin to join their Happeo organization, rather than being added automatically via provisioning
- This user is considered part of the same organization as the inviting admin
- They have the same privileges as internal users do (i.e. they have full access to the organization, rather than only a few Pages and Channels)
- They can also be given admin privileges
External user
- A user from a different Happeo organization
- They are added to specific channels or pages via a group (e.g. Google group)
- They cannot be given admin rights
Guest user
- A user who is not part of any Happeo organization
- They are added to specific channels or pages via a group (e.g. Google group)
- They cannot be given admin rights
Trusted user
- A user who belongs to an organization that is explicitly marked as "trusted" in our system
- Organizations are typically trusted upon customer request to connect Happeo environments.
- These users can view all content shared "with the entire organization”
- Example: People, Launcher, Pages, and Channels visible to the entire organization
- They can be granted admin rights
Definitions for Happeo user statuses
Seated
A user who has active access to Happeo. Organizations purchase a specific number of seats.
Unseated
An active account that is eligible for a seat but has not yet been assigned one. The account remains active in the provisioning source system and can be assigned a license when one becomes available based on the organization's purchased seat limit.
Awaiting
An active account that is eligible for a seat and is waiting for a seat to become available before being able to access Happeo.
Suspended
A user whose account has been (temporarily) disabled. This type of user needs to be suspended before they can be deleted.
Please note: Suspending is not the same as deleting.
Deleted
A user whose account has been permanently deleted from Happeo.
Invited
A user who was added via email and not via provisioning. An invited user is automatically assigned a seat (i.e., one is reserved for them), but they are not seated until they accept the invite.
Note: Reserved seats are counted towards the seat cap but do not yet have a seated user behind it. If no seats are available to be reserved, you cannot invite additional users.
Archived (Google-specific)
A user who is no longer active, but the account is being retained for archival purposes. This status is specific to Google and does not directly apply to Happeo. If a user is archived in Google, this user will be displayed as “Suspended” in Happeo.
