This article details section templates and how to create them, add them to your page, and manage them.
What are Section Templates?
Section Templates are pre-designed sections that you can reuse in your Happeo pages. They can be created by you, your company's administrators, or by Happeo itself.
Note: Section templates can be created by page group owners, editors, and platform admins.
Section Templates vs. Page Templates
Unlike Page Templates, which contain multiple sections, Section Templates refer to individual sections that can be easily added as pre-designed “Lego blocks” to a page.
Use cases for section templates
- Time-saving and efficiency – Pre-designed sections eliminate the need to start from scratch each time you create a new page. This significantly reduces the time and effort required to build pages
- Consistency – Section templates ensure a consistent look and feel across your pages
How to create a section template
Note: Section templates are created within the page editor. To start, you will need to create a page group, which serves as the container for your section templates. To learn how to create a page group, please see this article.
To create a section template:
- Click the edit icon at the top-right of your page group to enter the page editor

Click Sections and choose one of the following:
- Basic Section – A completely blank section
- Collapsible Section – A blank section that can be expanded or collapsed
- Add widgets to your section. You can learn how to do so by referring to this article
- Once you are happy with the section you wish to turn into a template, you can hover your cursor over it (its outer edges) and click on it. When selected, the section will be outlined in blue
- Click the settings icon at the top-right corner
- Click Save section as template
- Name your template

Provide a description
- Describe the purpose of the template. Consider including information about the intended use, audience, and any other relevant details
- Click Save Template
A toast message will appear at the bottom left of the page, indicating that your template has been saved. You can manage this template from the Template Management section. You can click Go to Template Management from the toast message to manage your template.
Alternatively, from the main Happeo navigation bar (outside of the page editor), you can click Pages and then Manage Templates at the bottom.
How to promote a section template to a company template
As a platform admin, you can promote section templates to company templates, making them accessible to all users within your Happeo environment.
To promote a section template:
- From the main navigation menu, go to Pages
- Click Manage Templates at the bottom of the drop-down menu
- In the My Templates section, filter by Personal, shared with me, or shared by me
- Hover over the desired section template
- Click the share button (shape with connecting dots)
- Select Promote to Company Templates
- Confirm your decision to promote the template
Once promoted, the template will appear in the Sections > Company Templates section of the page editor, making it readily available to all users.
How to apply a section template
To apply a section template to your page:
- In the page editor, click Sections from the left-hand navigation

Click on one of the following section template categories:
- Company Templates – Section templates created by your company’s administrators
- My Templates – Section templates that you have created
- Made by Happeo – Section templates that Happeo has made
- Click on the section template you wish to add to your page
The section template will then be automatically added to your page.
How to manage a section template
To navigate to the management menu of a section template you have created:
- From Happeo’s main navigation menu, click Pages
- Select Manage Templates at the bottom
- Click My Templates

Filter by template type
- Personal
- Shared with me
- Archived
Edit a section template
- Hover over the section template you want to edit
- Click the pencil icon to edit the template
- You will be taken to a new window where you can edit the template
- (Optional): Click Preview from the top right to see how your template looks like
- Click Save once you are happy with your changes
Share a section template

Hover over the section template you want to share and click the share button (shape with connecting dots)
- (Admins only): Promote to Company Templates – This makes the template available to all users within your environment and can be found in the Page editor > Sections > Company Templates

Share with selected groups or people – This allows you to share the template with specific users or groups. You can search for users, select them, and assign them specific access permissions: Can Edit, Can View, or None
- Shared templates can be found in Manage Templates > My Templates > Shared by me OR Shared with me
Archive a section template
- Hover over the section template you want to share
- Click the archive button (box with a downward arrow)
- Confirm archival
