This article provides instructions on creating, voting on, managing, and removing polls in Happeo Channels.
Package information: Polls are available to Growth, Recommended, Enterprise, and Custom packages.
What are polls?
Polls in Happeo are a Channel feature that allows users to create questions and gather votes on answer choices within a Channel. Essentially, polls allow for conducting quick surveys or collecting preferences from other members of Channels.
How to create a poll
Note: Only members who have posting permissions can create polls (exceptions given to Channel Owners, Editors, and platform Admins).
To create a poll, you can:
- Navigate to a Channel
- Click the Poll icon in the ‘Write a post’ section
- Type the question you want to poll
- Provide the options users can select
- You will be given recommendations through our AI functionality
- To use any of the recommended options, you can hit Enter on your keyboard or click the star icon
- Remove a poll option: You can remove a poll option by clicking the X icon on the right side of it
- Once you’re done, you can click the Create Poll button
- Make sure to publish the post once you’re done by clicking the Post button
How to manage a poll
Note: Poll creators, Channel Owners, Editors, and platform Admins can manage polls. However, only poll creators can view poll results (depending on the poll settings).
When creating or editing a poll, you can manage it by clicking the Settings button at the bottom left of the poll creation window. There, you can tick the following options:
- Allow users to choose multiple answers – This means that one user can vote on multiple answers
- Anonymous voting – When users vote, their identities will be hidden. Please note that this option cannot be undone upon publishing. Additionally, votes will be hidden for all users, including Admins
- Allow users to change their vote – Users can change their vote after voting
- Allow everyone to see the results – If this option is not selected, the creator is the only one who can see the results
- Allow users to see results before voting – Users do not need to vote to see the poll results
- Allow users to add new poll options – All channel members will be able to add new options to the poll by clicking “Add your answer”
Note: By default, all of the poll options aside from anonymous voting will be enabled.
How to vote on a poll
Note: All members (i.e. Channel Owners, Editors, and members) can vote on polls.
To vote on a poll, you can:
- Click on a checkbox / radio button next to the option you want to vote on
- Depending on the poll settings, you will be able to vote on multiple options. Polls that allow only one answer will have radio buttons instead of checkbox options
- Click Vote once you’re done
You will be able to see and do the following depending on the poll settings:
- Number of votes
- Users who voted
- Poll results – Either before or after voting
- Undo vote – You can click ‘Undo vote’ at the bottom of the poll
How to view poll results
Note: The ability to view poll results and the users who voted depends on the poll settings.
To view poll results, you can simply click the number of votes at the bottom of the poll. Alternatively, you can export a CSV of the results from the same location by clicking Export CSV at the bottom-right.
