This article explains when hiding makes sense for your workflow, how to hide and unhide Channels, and how to keep your hidden Channel list organized over time.
Hiding a Channel helps you stay focused on the information most relevant to your current work by decluttering your Channel list and My Stream, while still keeping that content accessible when you need it.
🎯 Who this article is for: Anyone who wants to declutter their Channel navigation and My Stream while maintaining access to less-active Channels.
🔓 Permissions: Any Channel member (owner, editor, or viewer) can hide Channels they belong to, except for primary and secondary Channels.
1. Why hide a Channel?
As your company grows and more Channels are created, your Channel list and My Stream can become cluttered with updates from areas that aren't central to your day-to-day work. Hiding Channels lets you focus on what matters most right now without losing access to other information.
When you hide a Channel:
- It's removed from your main Channel list in the navigation.
- Posts from that Channel no longer appear in your My Stream.
- Notifications are automatically muted.
- You can still access the Channel anytime through the "Hidden" filter within the Channel Navigation.
This keeps your platform clean and relevant while maintaining the flexibility to explore other areas of the company when needed.
2. Use cases
- Temporary project Channels: When a cross-functional project wraps up, you may want to keep access to the Channel for reference but don't need to see daily updates anymore.
- Specialized Channels: You might follow a Channel for occasional reference, like Facilities Updates or Regional Announcements, without needing it in your active view.
- Focus on your core work: If your role spans multiple departments, hiding less-active Channels helps you prioritize the ones you interact with most often.
3. Before you begin
Important limitations
- Primary and secondary Channels cannot be hidden: These Channels are designated by your organization as containing company-critical information and updates that help keep everyone aligned, so they remain visible to all members.
- Hiding a Channel automatically mutes notifications from that Channel: If you want to stay notified of updates without seeing the Channel in your list, hiding may not be the right choice. Instead, consider adjusting the Channel's notification priority.

When to hide vs. leave a Channel
Before hiding a Channel, consider whether you actually need access to it at all:
Hide a Channel when:
- You want occasional access to reference material but don't need daily visibility or notifications.
- The Channel contains information that may be useful later, even if it's not relevant to your current priorities.
- You're temporarily shifting focus away from a project or topic but expect to return to it.
Leave a Channel when:
- The Channel's content is no longer relevant to your work.
- You haven't accessed a hidden Channel in several months and don't expect to need it again.
- The Channel was created for a completed project with no ongoing reference value.
Leaving a Channel removes it entirely from your access, while hiding keeps it available through the Hidden filter whenever you need it.

4. How to hide a Channel
- Navigate to the Channel you want to hide.
- Click the three dots in the right-hand panel.
- Select Hide Channel.
The Channel will be removed from your Channel list and My Stream after you refresh the platform.
5. How to unhide a Channel
- Click the Channel Menu at the top left of the Navigation bar.
- Click the All filter and select Hidden.
- Navigate to the Channel you want to unhide.
- From the Channel’s main navigation, click the three dots on the top-right.
- Select Unhide Channel.
The Channel will reappear in your Channel list and My Stream. Notifications will resume based on the notification priority you had set for that Channel before hiding it.
6. Managing your hidden Channels
Over time, hidden Channels can accumulate and become confusing. Here's how to keep them organized:
- Review your hidden Channels regularly: Access your hidden Channels through the Channel navigation menu (All → Hidden) and evaluate whether you still need access to each one. If you haven't opened a hidden Channel in several months and don't expect to need it, consider leaving it entirely.
- Use hiding intentionally: Hiding works best when you're actively managing which Channels are relevant to your current priorities. If you find yourself with dozens of hidden Channels, it may be a sign to leave some of them instead.
7. Frequently asked questions
Can I hide primary or secondary Channels?
No. Primary and secondary Channels are designated by your organization to ensure everyone stays aligned on critical company information. These Channels remain visible to all members.
Will I still receive notifications from hidden Channels?
No. Hiding a Channel automatically mutes notifications. If you want to receive notifications without seeing the Channel in your main list, consider adjusting the Channel's notification priority to Low instead of hiding it. With Low priority, you'll only be notified when someone mentions you or replies to your post.

Can other people see that I've hidden a Channel?
No. Hiding a Channel only affects your personal view. Other members won't know you've hidden it.
What happens to posts I've already made in a hidden Channel?
Nothing changes. Your posts remain visible to other Channel members, and you can still access them by viewing the Channel through the Hidden filter, a direct link, or via your bookmarks.
If I unhide a Channel, will I see all the posts I missed?
Yes. Once you unhide a Channel, all posts (including those made while it was hidden) will appear in your My Stream or within the Channel itself based on their original post dates.
