This article outlines the Salesforce Federated Search Connector and includes steps for installing and authorizing it.
Package information: The Salesforce Federated Search Connector is only available to Entreprise Package users.
What is the Salesforce Search Connector?
The Salesforce Federated Search Connector allows you to search for content stored in Salesforce directly within Happeo. This integration makes it easy to find Salesforce files, records, and other key information without leaving Happeo.
The features of the search connector include:
- Displays Salesforce results in Happeo’s search suggestions
- Adds a dedicated Salesforce search tab in Happeo’s search interface
- Allows you to use Salesforce-specific filters to refine your results
- Clicking on a search result opens the corresponding record directly in Salesforce in your browser
Scope of permissions
Happeo’s Salesforce search connector can search for:
- Account
- Contact
- Lead
- Opportunity
Because the search connector operates within the user's session, it could theoretically access any API the user can use. However, it is currently configured only to use the search API to query the entities listed above.
How to install
Note: Installing the Salesforce search connector is available to admins only.
To install the Salesforce search connector:
- Click your avatar at the top right of Happeo’s main navigation
- Go to Admin Settings > Apps
- Select (or search for) the Salesforce search connector

- If you don’t receive a notification, you can also select the Search tab within the Admin Settings on the left-hand navigation
- Within the Search tab, find the Salesforce search connector and toggle the options you wish to have enabled. You can choose between / both:
- Show in search (full search overview)
- Show in search predictions (search bar autocomplete)

How to authenticate
Once the Salesforce Search Connector has been successfully installed, regular users must authenticate the app.
To authenticate the app:
- Type in what you are looking for in Happeo’s search bar and hit Enter
- On the left side of the page, you will see a list of apps enabled by your platform admin. Click Salesforce
- A message will appear indicating that you have not authorized the app. Click Authorize and follow the instructions
- Once you have logged in and authorized the app, you can go to Happeo and refresh the page. You should now be able to view search results in both the Search Predictions and the Search Overview for Salesforce
- (Depending on what the platform admin has enabled in terms of the Search App Settings)
Now, you can start searching for any query in Happeo’s search, which will show the results from all the available and authorized applications. By clicking the Salesforce icon when searching for something in the search bar, the auto-suggestions from this app will be displayed.
Filtering options
You can narrow down the search results by data types like:
- Opportunity
- Account
- Contact
- Lead
And depending on what is selected, there will be sub-filters available:
- Opportunity
- Name
- Stage
- Account Name
- Account
- Name
- Owner Name
- Industry
- Contact
- Name
- Department
- Lead
- Company Name
- Owner Name
You can click Clear filters on the right of the filters to deselect all the existing filters.
Limitations
The Salesforce Connector relies on your Salesforce API limits, which are determined by your Salesforce license type and current API usage.
- Enterprise and Unlimited Editions: API access is included by default but limited to the amount of API calls that can be made
- Enterprise: 1000 API calls per user per 24-hour period
- Unlimited: 5000 API calls per user per 24-hour period
- Professional Edition: API access must be purchased as an add-on
- Essentials Edition: Does not include API access
If your organization reaches its Salesforce API limits, search results from Salesforce may not load until the limit resets. If this happens, we will show an error message to the user(s) affected
- Note: These limits are per user and not per integration, so if you have other tools that use these API’s, they will also count toward your quota
We recommend reviewing your organization’s API capacity in Salesforce to ensure a smooth experience.
